Turner County Jail Museum: Historic Romanesque Architecture

Built in 1906, the Turner County Jail is on the National Register of Historic Places because of its Romanesque style, the inmates named it the "Castle Turner." The original jail cells remain upstairs, along with the death cell, hanging hook and trapdoor, where two men were hung for the crime of murder.
Many paranormal groups have visited the jail and found some very interesting readings while staying over night.
The Crime and Punishment Museum is one of the most unique tourist attractions in South Georgia. Come and check it out for yourself!
Tours for the Crime and Punishment Museum are by appointment only. Volunteers staff our museum and are happy to share the wonderful history of the jail and of Turner County. Unfortunately, because the staff is made solely of volunteers there is not full time staff. Don't let a small call dissuade you!
