Feathered Friends Forever Rescue/Refuge, Inc. is the largest privately owned rescue/refuge in the nation. We are a 501(c) non-profit corporation. At Feathered Friends Forever, we provide a loving, lifelong, care home for tropical birds. We take in all types, for any reason, under any circumstance. Troops temporarily house birds with us while deployed overseas. In addition, we are listed with FEMA as a location to temporarily house birds after disaster strikes. We are also the official retirement center located in the USA for Amazon Parrots, backed and sponsored by the Amazona Society (an international group dedicated to the welfare of Amazons). At least one bird is abandoned with us each day. Our avian population, which has over 1,400 birds, is growing faster than our donations.

The lake is shallow with an average depth of three feet and is bordered by a virgin cypress-tupelo swamp. It offers excellent nature watching year-round and annually winters several species of waterfowl. Wood ducks are year-round residents and annually raise approximately 2,500 young in natural cavities and nest boxes. Other wildlife to look
