Be Careful What You Wish For: How My Wish for Change Led to an Unexpected Layoff and New Beginnings
Remember the post I wrote a few weeks ago about feeling stuck and ready for a change?
Well, major changes have unfolded since then!
The photo above was taken during my trip to France in May, right as I wished for greater freedom.
Just two weeks after that post—and one month after my wish—I was laid off from my part-time bookkeeping job of seven years. It was inevitable, and truthfully, I needed that push, as I couldn't bring myself to leave.
I hesitated to give up the steady income, which afforded me travel flexibility. Yet deep down, bookkeeping—even part-time—wasn't my true passion.
The news was shocking at first, but I adapted quickly. Rather than dwelling in self-pity, I recognized it as a vital step—a fresh chapter in my journey.
I thrive on challenges; complacency breeds laziness, which had crept into my life, fueling my desire for change.
I've always believed everything happens for a reason. Removing a safety net often unlocks our best work.
I'm thrilled about what lies ahead.
Details on my next steps aren't ready to share yet, but I'll keep you updated as I evolve to sustain this dream.
