October 2014 was packed with memorable first-time adventures and our annual friends' getaway to Cabo, Mexico. As avid travelers, we captured and shared a wealth of stunning Instagram photos from our journeys. Our month kicked off with a 5-day trip to Molokai, Hawaii—an island we approached with curiosity. We were captivated by its authentic charm and left with a deeper understanding of its unique history than from any other Hawaiian island we've explored.
Next, Scott and I embarked on a weekend camping escape to Malibu, California—another first for us. Trip highlights included quality time with friends, invigorating hikes, and breathtaking photography at El Matador State Beach.
Mid-month, I headed to Maho Beach Resort in St. Maarten, arriving just hours after Hurricane Gonzalo. The island bore visible storm damage: closed businesses, debris-strewn shores, and less-than-crystal waters. Despite the challenges, St. Maarten's allure shines through—we can't wait to return and fully discover it.
Late October brought a sunny weekend in Baja, Mexico, with close friends—our cherished annual tradition, enjoyed twice this year. Days revolved around surfing, delicious meals, beach strolls, rest, and quality bonding—pure bliss for seasoned travelers like us.
During home downtime, we shared gems from past trips, such as the Turtle Hospital in the Florida Keys and a playful dancing puffin in Elliston, Newfoundland.
