Top 2021 Travel Destinations: What Global Google Searches Reveal

The past year has transformed daily life worldwide, disrupting travel and international mobility for work, necessity, or leisure. As restrictions ease, travelers everywhere eagerly anticipate their next adventure. A comprehensive study by travel expert Kuoni, powered by Google data, uncovers the most sought-after 2021 holiday destinations across 131 countries.
Google Trends data shows a 124% surge in '2021 holiday' searches compared to late March, signaling strong pent-up demand. An interactive map highlights each country's top destination, offering fascinating insights into global travel aspirations.

Globally, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reigns as the top destination, with Qatar, Canada, and the USA tying for second, and Egypt in third. Regionally, the Maldives leads for Europeans; UAE and Canada tie in Asia; UAE tops Africa; and Peru captivates South Americans.
UK travelers prioritize the Maldives, Mexico, and Bali. Japan tops lists for the US and Canada, Mexico draws Russians, and Fiji beckons Australians.

"With lockdowns persisting in many areas, it's no surprise people are booking future trips for hope and excitement. The rise in searches aligns with our booking trends, especially for Maldives holidays," said Dean Harvey, Kuoni spokesperson, in an interview with Lonely Planet.
