Route 13: Norfolk to Cape Charles
43.8 miles, approximately 54 minutes
Start in Norfolk and follow Route 13 across the iconic Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, a 17.6-mile engineering marvel and one of the world's seven man-made wonders. Tolls are $18 one-way; EZ Pass holders get a $2 return fare within 24 hours.

Cross to Kiptopeke State Park for fishing, kayaking, biking, hiking, and birdwatching. The beach allows daytime swimming; the 24-hour fishing pier is $5/adult, $3/child. Rent kayaks Friday-Sunday (9am-4pm) at the boat shed, or book guided tours with Southeast Expeditions (marsh, barrier islands, coastal creeks) or Eastern Shore Boat Tours (sunset cruises, dolphin searches, eco-tours). Overnight in cabins, lodges, yurts, or campsites.
