Discover Adventure in Happy Valley: Bellefonte’s Outdoor Adventure Expo on October 3
“If the last 18 months have highlighted anything, it’s the need for outdoor recreational opportunities,” says Troy Weston, partner and designer at 3twenty9 Design. Weston conceived the idea for The Bellefonte Outdoor Adventure Expo in 2019, noting that the timing couldn’t be better for embracing outdoor fun. “The expo showcases the best of Bellefonte and Centre County: stunning, accessible natural assets, plus vendors, nonprofits, and businesses specializing in outdoor and recreation products.”
The Outdoor Adventure Expo takes place on October 3 at Bellefonte’s Talleyrand Park annex, adjacent to Big Spring Spirits. This free-admission regional event connects attendees with products and destinations for thrilling adventures. Business owners, vendors, and nonprofits can register online at downtownbellefonteinc.com/events/outdoor-adventure-expo/. Proceeds support Downtown Bellefonte, Inc., and its economic development efforts.
“Even after nearly 20 years here, I’m continually amazed by the abundance of adventure groups, trails, lakes, streams, and exploration options,” Weston shares. “There are adventures I’m still discovering. That inspired an expo to highlight these opportunities—paired with vendors offering the gear needed—to introduce our community to what lies just beyond our backyards.”
Expect regional vendors including outdoor gear makers, suppliers, local attraction reps, state and local park officials, nonprofits, tour guides, fly-fishing experts, and food vendors. New this year: live music.
“Bellefonte is the gateway to adventure. As a literal entry to the PA Wilds, it’s surrounded by hiking, biking, camping, and renowned Class A fly fishing—plus much more,” Weston explains. “Talleyrand Park’s ideal space lets us highlight the beauty and adventures for residents and visitors alike.”
Visiting Happy Valley post-pandemic? Weston’s tip: infuse adventure into your trip. Paddle a stream, fish a Class A trout stream, hike Mount Nittany or Rothrock State Forest. “With so many options, plan a long weekend!”
