Grand Strand Locals Premiere Gripping Film 'A Chess Player' at Market Common

Residents of the Grand Strand have produced an independent film, with its premiere scheduled for Monday, May 12, 2014, at the Grand 14 Theater in The Market Common.

"A Chess Player" is a passion project for producer and star Chip White, alongside executive producer Jason Smith, both from the Myrtle Beach area.

Chip White is the brother of North Myrtle Beach native and "Wheel of Fortune" icon Vanna White.

The story explores what happens when your deepest passion consumes your entire identity.

Expect a narrative more akin to "Fight Club" than the life of chess master Bobby Fischer.

Showtime is 7 p.m.—don't miss this local cinematic debut.
