Myrtle Beach Reopens: Essential Guidelines for Safe and Responsible Travel

Myrtle Beach Reopens: Essential Guidelines for Safe and Responsible Travel

Exciting news for beach lovers: The Grand Strand beaches are open, and resorts and hotels are accepting new reservations. To ensure everyone's safety and sustain this reopening, please visit responsibly by following these key guidelines.

If you're planning a trip to Myrtle Beach right now, adhere to these rules and best practices for a successful, healthy experience.

Do Not Travel If You're Sick

Stay home if you have any symptoms—it's that simple.

Practice Social Distancing Everywhere

Social distancing is mandatory across the Grand Strand. Maintain at least six feet from others at restaurants, resorts, shops, and on the beach. With 60 miles of expansive shoreline, this is straightforward. Limit groups to three people or household units, and space out by six feet or more.

Wear a Face Mask

Face masks aren't legally required in South Carolina but are strongly recommended. Carry one and wear it in public spaces.

Keep Hands Clean

Hand hygiene is crucial to curb COVID-19 spread. Wash for at least 20 seconds or use the abundant hand sanitizer stations available.

Show Patience and Empathy

Businesses like restaurants, stores, and hotels are ramping up operations and may face staffing challenges. Be understanding and patient—they're working hard to serve you during this unique time.

Research Attractions Before Visiting

Many attractions and amusement parks are reopening, but not all. Check individual websites for current status to avoid disappointment.

Expect Waits at Water Attractions

Pools and water facilities operate at reduced capacity per local rules. Wait your turn patiently as resorts comply with regulations.

Pet Owners: Follow Leash and Beach Rules

Dogs are welcome, but in Myrtle Beach city limits, they're banned from the beach May 1 to Labor Day (10 a.m.–5 p.m.). Use a leash no longer than 7 feet and always clean up after them.

Dispose of Trash Properly

Help preserve our pristine beaches. Use the plentiful trash cans and recycling bins for masks, gloves, containers, and more.

We've all endured pandemic stress and isolation—now's the time to enjoy responsibly. Your actions determine if we keep beaches and attractions open. Follow CDC healthy travel guidelines and respect others for a safe return to normal.

Together, we can keep Myrtle Beach safe, welcoming, and open. Thank you—we look forward to seeing you at the beach!
