Myrtle Beach's Iconic 65th Annual Sun Fun Festival Returns June 4-6, 2021

Myrtle Beach s Iconic 65th Annual Sun Fun Festival Returns June 4-6, 2021

Myrtle Beach's most cherished tradition, the 65th Annual Sun Fun Festival, returns this summer from June 4-6, 2021, at Plyler Park on Ocean Boulevard. As the Grand Strand's longest-running event since 1951, it's fondly remembered by locals and visitors alike.

Launched in 1951 to welcome summer tourists, the festival originally featured parades, unique games like human checkers, beauty pageants including Miss South Carolina, and family-friendly activities. Today, it includes a renowned sand sculpture contest and live music while preserving classics like the parade.

Revived in 2016 after a five-year hiatus, the event was paused in 2020 due to the pandemic. It boosts boardwalk businesses and signals the start of summer. Though some elements may vary this year, celebrate Myrtle Beach history with us!

Here's the weekend schedule:

Vocal Edition: Friday, June 4 at 5:00 pm

Vocal Edition opens the festival with a 45-minute performance by a professional choral ensemble specializing in harmonious arrangements, featuring top singers from the Grand Strand.

The Tonez: Friday, June 4 at 7:00 pm

This eight-piece band keeps the energy high with live hits from Oldies, Motown, Rock & Roll, Country, Funk, R&B, and Beach music.

Sun Fun Parade: Saturday, June 5 at 10:00 am

Watch the parade roll from 8th Avenue North to 16th Avenue North on Ocean Boulevard. The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce joins with our new mobile Visitor's Center Van.

Family-friendly fun at the first Sun Fun Sand Sculpture Contest! Starts at noon, judging at 2:00 pm, prizes at 2:30 pm across divisions and best overall.

Swingin' Medallions: Saturday, June 5 at 7:00 pm

Greenwood, SC's Swingin' Medallions, performing since the 1960s, deliver beach music, frat rock, R&B, and shaggin'. Their 1966 hit 'Double Shot (of My Baby's Love)' was a million-seller.

Too Much Sylvia: Sunday, June 6 at 7:00 pm

Celebrating 30 years in 2021, Too Much Sylvia has played over 3,200 shows across the Carolinas and beyond. Their diverse setlist and charisma entertain all ages.

The Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce proudly supports this event, thanking sponsors Gay Dolphin on the boardwalk and Oceanfront Merchants Association. Cheer for Visit Myrtle Beach in the sand contest!
