42nd Annual Loris Bog-Off Festival: Chicken Bog, 200+ Vendors & Family Fun Near Myrtle Beach

The 42nd annual Loris Bog-Off Festival takes place on Saturday, October 16, 2021, in downtown Loris, South Carolina—just minutes from downtown Myrtle Beach!

Sponsored by the Loris Chamber of Commerce, this family-friendly event occurs every third Saturday in October. Originally a chicken bog cooking competition, it has evolved over four decades into a major celebration drawing thousands for a full day of entertainment, vendors, food, and activities for all ages.

Chicken bog remains the star attraction. This beloved regional dish features tender chicken, rice, sausage, onions, and chef-specific spices—always delicious. Sample it affordably while exploring over 200 vendors, two stages of live entertainment (local dance schools, choruses, and bands), and a expansive children's area. Check the Main Stage lineup for details. This year features the return of the Loris Bog-Off 5K at 8:00 a.m. from Loris High School Football Field.

Loris, South Carolina, offers classic Southern charm inland from the Grand Strand coast. Discover its unique restaurants and small-town vibe in our Loris blog post.

Before attending, consult our events calendar for more October happenings along the Grand Strand. Bring cash, as some vendors prefer it—I recall needing it for favorites in past years. Visit the Loris Chamber of Commerce website or Loris Bog-Off Festival Facebook page for details.
