2017/2018 String Theory Lineup
Gloria Chien, Piano: One of America's premier young chamber musicians, Gloria Chien began playing piano at age five in Taiwan and made her professional debut at 16 with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. As Artistic Director of String Theory in her seventh season, she performs on Sept. 19, Dec. 12, and Mar. 6.

Paul Neubauer, Viola: Hailed as a "master musician" by the New York Times with two Grammy nominations, Paul Neubauer serves on the faculty at Juilliard School and Mannes College.

David Shifrin, Clarinet: One of only two woodwind players to win the Avery Fisher Prize, David Shifrin is Artistic Director of the Chamber Music Society of Yale. He continually expands the genre's boundaries.

Itamar Zorman, Violin: Born to a musical family in Israel, Itamar Zorman infuses Mediterranean themes into his performances at venues like Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center.
Bella Hristova, Violin: Praised by the Washington Post for her "impressive power and range," Bulgarian-born Bella Hristova trained at Curtis Institute and Indiana University. 
Richard O’Neill, Viola: Emmy winner, Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, and two-time Grammy nominee, Richard O’Neill also supports global nonprofits.
Yura Lee, Viola: Avery Fisher Grant recipient and youngest "Debut Artist of the Year" at age 12, Yura Lee holds degrees from Indiana University and New England Conservatory.
Mihai Marica, Cello: Romanian-trained Mihai Marica has performed in Mexico, Russia, and with the Louisville Orchestra.
Dmitri Atapine, Cello: Yale School of Music graduate Dmitri Atapine excels in detailed, consistent performances.
