Stand-Up Paddleboarding at Tempe Town Lake: A Beginner's Thrilling Experience
Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) is my top choice for water adventures at Tempe Town Lake. My first session today was unforgettable, and I’m eager to return for more.
I checked in at the kiosk on the south side of the lake, near the Tempe Boat Rentals dock. There, Clint, the manager, provided a thorough, engaging lesson that set me up for success.
To start, slide gently from a seated position on the dock edge to kneeling on the board. Once 5-10 feet from the dock, ease into a standing position. Despite my average balance, standing felt natural once underway.
Within minutes, I gained confidence, and the fun truly began. The refreshing breeze, scenic lake views, and full-body workout—targeting core and arms—made it exhilarating without feeling strenuous.
Before heading back, I rented a pedal boat for a leisurely cruise—effortless and ideal for all skill levels.
Tempe Boat Rentals offers kayaks, electric skiffs, pontoon boats, and beach cruiser bikes too. I can’t wait to explore them all on my next visit.
Stand-up paddleboard rentals: $15 for 1 hour or $25 for 2 hours. For full rates and details:
