Desert Two Ball Challenge: Premier Golf Event During Coachella in Greater Palm Springs
April heralds "Festival Season" in Greater Palm Springs, earning the desert international acclaim for its vibrant events.
Back-to-back weekends feature the Coachella Music and Arts Festival (April 13-15 and 20-22, 2018), followed by Stagecoach (April 27-29, 2018) at Indio's Empire Polo Club. These gatherings welcome tens of thousands of visitors annually to experience world-class musical acts.
Yet April also shines for golf lovers, offering ideal morning temperatures, discounted rates, and superb course conditions across Greater Palm Springs' premier public layouts.
During Coachella's second weekend, golf enthusiasts should join the annual Desert Two Ball Challenge at three acclaimed Troon Golf-managed courses.

Scheduled for April 20-22, 2018, the event rotates through Westin Mission Hills' Gary Player Signature Course (Friday, April 20), Classic Club (April 21), and the Players Course at Indian Wells Golf Resort (April 22).

Formats include: Team Scramble on Day 1 (50% handicap for net scores); Better Ball of Partners on Day 2 (100% handicap for net scores); and Shamble on Day 3 (75% handicap for net scores).
The entry fee is $598 per team, with prizes for top Gross and Net division teams based on field size.
"This is a fun, inclusive tournament for all skill levels," says Michael Tebbetts, Director of Sales and Marketing at Indian Wells Golf Resort. "We pair everyone—couples, parents and kids—and the formats forgive individual play, ideal as a post-winter warmup."

Daily 8:00 a.m. shotgun starts beat the heat, and the value of top courses has grown the event over six years to 120 players.
"Mid-April weather is perfect, courses pristine," says Greg Rubino, General Manager at Classic Club. "Rates drop post-March peak, easing crowds while keeping energy high."
Gaining traction amid festival hype, the Desert Two Ball highlights golf's enduring appeal.
"April is Festival Month, but prime for golf too," Rubino adds. "Troon courses teamed up for this standout event."
Golf remains a desert staple year-round.
"Festivals dominate, but dynamic pricing and specials like this grow participation annually," Tebbetts concludes.
