Explore the Trailblazing Talavera Poblana Exhibition at the Crow Collection of Asian Art
From September 17, 2016 to February 2017, the Crow Collection of Asian Art in Dallas’s Arts District will showcase the world‑renowned Talavera Poblana collection—hand‑crafted, tin‑glazed earthenware that dates back to the 16th century.
Why It Matters
These pieces, originally created in Puebla, Mexico, represent the pinnacle of colonial Mexican ceramic artistry. Their journey from the Museum Franz Mayer to Dallas marks the first time these historic works have traveled outside Mexico, offering visitors an unprecedented glimpse into centuries of cultural exchange.
Dual‑Language Experience
The exhibition will be presented in both English and Spanish, honoring the Mexican heritage that inspires each piece.
Celebrate the Opening
On Sunday, September 18, join a vibrant street festival in partnership with the Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe. From 10 am to 6 pm, enjoy performances, live demonstrations, and interactive art activities that highlight the diverse cultures shaping Talavera Poblana.
