Off the Wall: Art Meets Pop Culture in Unexpected Ways

What is it?
Off the Wall is a monthly event that blends art and pop culture into an immersive experience. Each evening offers a fresh theme, guiding visitors through the museum’s collection via interactive activities, entertainment, and curated refreshments. Start the night with a signature cocktail, glass of wine, or cold brew, then explore guided gallery tours, creative workshops, quizzes, live music, and dance parties. It’s a new way to experience the Dallas Museum of Art.

What can I do there?
The inaugural night will feature the “Space Oddity” theme, taking visitors beyond traditional museum boundaries. Navigate galleries with zodiac signs as your compass, sip cosmic cocktails, admire Robert Rauschenberg’s Skyway, and enjoy David “Starman” Bowie's hits. Afterward, dance the night away at the Eagle Family Plaza disco. A full schedule is available online.

I'm in! When is it?
Off the Wall launches Thursday, October 13 at 5:00 p.m. Come after work or school for a relaxed evening at the Dallas Museum of Art. Tickets cost $10—equivalent to three coffees—and are perfect for a date or a night out with friends.

I can't make this one. Am I out of luck?
The museum hosts an art history class every second Thursday of the month from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Join the “Gogh Your Own Way” workshop on November 10, led by curator Nicky Myers, or the “Winter is Coming” event on December 8.

Potatoes. A simple leaf bowl full of fried potatoes from a street vendor. That’s all I wanted last night.
