Krblin Jihn Kabin: The Inaugural Kcymaerxthaere Site in Joshua Tree's High Desert

Discover the captivating Krblin Jihn Kabin, the first historic site in the expansive Kcymaerxthaere project by visionary "geographer at large" Eames Demetrios. Grandson of legendary designers Ray and Charles Eames, Demetrios crafts intricate parallel universes with unique histories and timelines. Kcymaerxthaere captures the intersections between these realms and our linear reality.

In this alternate narrative, the Kabin functioned as a POW cell during a war between factions of a fundamentalist religion disputing sacred sites. Defeated prisoners were confined here under "homesteaders'" watch. The language omits letters "c" and "o," reflecting OTGON (One True God’s Only Nation) beliefs deeming them obscene.

Unveiled in October 2004 as part of the High Desert Test Sites (see Andrea Zittel’s Planar Pavilions in the Jan/Feb issue of Art Patron Magazine), the site features the full history in standard English and the Gospel of Matthew in "Jihn Wranglikan." Evoking Martin Kippenberger’s network with portals in Syros, Greece, and Dawson City, Canada, it challenges us to expand beyond everyday perceptions. www.kcymaerxthaere.com

DIRECTIONS: From Highway 62, turn north on Sunburst Avenue, right onto Crestview, and follow to the end of pavement. Turn right on the dirt road; the Kabin is 100 feet ahead on the left.

NOTE: Joshua Tree rural roads are rough, unmarked dirt/sand with limited services. If unsure, opt for a guided tour.
