Pay homage to the inventor.

The frozen margarita’s origins trace back to 1971 when Dallas restaurateur Mariano Martinez invented the first frozen margarita machine at Mariano’s Hacienda in East Dallas. Inspired by 7‑Eleven’s Slurpee machine, the invention revolutionized cocktail culture.

The original machine now resides at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, but a visit to Mariano’s is still a must—especially on this milestone holiday.
