Life House Collins Park: Reviving Beach Vibes in Miami Beach's Collins Park

Life House Collins Park: Reviving Beach Vibes in Miami Beach s Collins Park

Life House Collins Park
Miami Beach, Florida
Beachy, $ (From $149)

While many of Miami Beach's most famous hotels lay claim to the area's Art Deco history, Life House Collins Park has a much deeper story to tell. Tucked between the canal and the ocean, the building's streamlined structure was erected in 1934 by John Collins, a Quaker merchant and the brains behind Miami's most genius engineering feat, the Miami waterway. For their latest Miami outpost, Life House highlight's Quaker's minimalism and streamlined architectural features. Guest rooms embody a relaxed coastal feel, with hand-woven tapestries, rattan furniture, and neutral tones, while the rooftop plunge pool and mezze-fueled restaurant are plant-filled, tropical dreamscapes. The laid-back, low-key vibes of the Life House brand may feel simple, but they've captured the millennial mood with trendy scents by Diptyque, bath products by Le Labo, and retro Marshall amp speakers. While the setting feels miles from South Beach's buzz, design-forward travelers will be happily surprised they're only steps from the beach action if they want it.

What to Do Nearby

It's Miami, and probably hot and humid, so do yourself a favor and head up to the rooftop pool and hang in the lounge chairs, or cool off with cocktails canal-side at the restaurant. Once you're ready for some air conditioning, endless Art Deco architecture awaits. Head to The Bass, Miami's one-stop shop for cultural art exhibitions, a sculpture garden, and guest lectures. Or sign up for a walking tour to discover gems you've never seen or heard about. At night, skip the strip and spend an evening at The Miami City Ballet, whose dancers have been wowing audiences with their flexibility since 1985.

  • Housesitting Update: Week 3 at Our Remote Mexican Beach House

We’ve now completed three weeks at our most remote housesit yet—a secluded beach house in Mexico. Despite minor local drama and intense weather, we’ve established a rewarding routine. Dani walked our dog at sunrise along one of the most serene beaches we’ve ever experienced. Herons foraged in glassy sea grass at low tide, pelicans soared overhead with their prehistoric beaks, and a striking red-headed woodpecker drummed on a nearby palm as I brewed coffee amid the peaceful silence.
