Seattle Art Fair Year Two: Bigger, Bolder with More Art, Events, and Excitement

Last summer, no one knew quite what to expect from the inaugural Seattle Art Fair. Sure, we recognized that event producers Paul G. Allen/Vulcan and Art Market Productions were putting their considerable resources and expertise behind it, but still, a new event is always a bit of a question mark.

Seeing the huge lines (which moved cordially and quickly, much to everyone’s relief) stretching down the block on opening night allayed any fear that this event wouldn’t soar. With more than 60 top international, national and local galleries showcasing the best in modern and contemporary art, the fair drew collectors, admirers, and all kinds of art lovers.  Success!

So we’re delighted to welcome back an even bigger and better year two of Seattle Art Fair, August 4-7. Held at CenturyLink Field Event Center, the fair opens on August 4 with a Beneficiary Preview with proceeds supporting Seattle Art Museum, then continues Friday through Sunday.

More than 80 galleries will exhibit, including some of the most prestigious in the world. U.S. galleries from Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Portland, San Francisco, and of course, Seattle, will be joined by international galleries from Paris, France; Cologne, Germany; Seoul, South Korea; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Tokyo, Japan.

Both on- and off-site, fair events include talks, performances and special installations, spotlighting Seattle’s position as a vital cultural capital.

And throughout the city, a host of other arts and cultural programming will showcase local art in conjunction with the Art Fair.  Chief among them, Out of Sight at the nearby historic King Street Station offers an annual survey of contemporary art in the Pacific Northwest, reflecting the diversity and breadth of creativity that activates this region. The Satellite Seattle website also offers a wealth of information about other Art Fair week events.

Tickets to the Seattle Art Fair are now available online. For more information, and a full list of participating galleries, visit seattleartfair.com. It’s a popular weekend in Seattle, so a word to the wise: book your hotel soon!  And join the conversation on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook by following @SeattleArtFair and @VisitSeattle.

See you at the Fair!

Much of what makes Seattle a beautiful lure of a city is its magnificent surroundings. The Puget Sound is a tranquil and pristine estuary that is home to a variety of fish, seabirds, and marine mammals. The striking Olympic Mountain range acts as the backdrop to a city filled with unique people. Just as unique as its people, Seattle is home to a variety of Seattle attractions meant to entertain visitors near or far. One such attraction is the Seattle Aquarium.
