Discover Vibrant Live Music: Top Concerts and Festivals in Southwest Louisiana
Duke Ellington famously said, "If it sounds good, it is good." Southwest Louisiana embodies this spirit, where live music and pleasant weather invite everyone to step out and dance.
As dusk falls, Downtown Lake Charles comes alive with the Downtown at Sundown concert series—one of my top Friday night outings. Starting May 15, enjoy four consecutive Fridays from 6-9 p.m., with streets closed for dancing and relaxing. This year's lineup features Wendy Colonna, Marcia Ball, Rusty Metoyer & Zydeco Krush, and Grammy-winning Cajun/country artist Jo-El Sonnier.

Art and food booths add to the fun, offering hot dogs, sno-cones, cold beers, and cocktails—perfect for TGIF celebrations!

The summer dance parties continue with two major festivals. The Cajun French Music & Food Festival on July 17-18 celebrates Cajun heritage through authentic music, dancing, and cuisine.

Later, the Marshland Festival (July 24-25) brings Hackberry's marshland vibes to the Lake Charles Civic Center. Dive into Louisiana culture with Zydeco, oldies, Cajun, and country tunes that keep crowds dancing.

Cool off poolside at local casinos while catching big-name acts. L’Auberge Casino Resort kicks off its Liquid Society Party by the Pool series on the last Thursday in May. Golden Nugget Lake Charles hosts contemporary artists, classic rock, and tribute bands. Nearby, Isle of Capri Casino Hotel and Delta Downs Racetrack Casino & Hotel deliver superstar performances you won’t want to miss.
Lace up your dancing shoes and join the Southwest Louisiana rhythm. See you on the dance floor!
