The Ultimate Louisiana Summer Treat: Pops and Rockets Gourmet Popsicles
Surviving a Louisiana summer demands something refreshingly cold. Frozen delights like Coke Icees, sno-cones, and slushies offer a welcome escape from 80- to 100-degree heat.

This summer, discover the coolest "kid on the block": Pops and Rockets gourmet popsicles. These innovative treats bring fresh, bold flavors to the Lake Area. I first featured their king cake pop in February, and since then, they've introduced outrageous flavors that keep customers returning.
Owners Robbie Austin and Nick Villaume are leading the local popsicle scene. They sold their first pop in July 2014 and have since exceeded 5,000 sales. Flavors are crafted in their downtown pop lab, with over 20 options always available in the freezer.

In December, their Indiegogo campaign let supporters create custom pops, including hits like Kokomojito and Touch of Guava. Recently, I visited the Charlestown Farmers Market for the Kokomojito—a perfect summer indulgence with zesty lime, fresh mint, and a hint of rum extract. It even had me humming The Beach Boys' "Kokomo"!

Pops and Rockets' gourmet pops have won over many fans. They're available at the Cash and Carry Farmers Market, where they often sell out quickly. With a growing following, customers can preorder online or visit the pop lab at 104 Pujo Street (next to Botsky's) for their fix.

Find the pop cart at local events like Downtown at Sundown. During the Contraband Days Louisiana Pirate Festival, they unveiled a new bike trailer. They're also expanding to store shelves soon.

Pops and Rockets is establishing itself as a local success story in Southwest Louisiana. Try these gourmet pops this summer and share your favorite flavors below.
