Downtown at Sundown: Lake Charles' Premier Free Outdoor Concert Series
There's nothing quite like relaxing on a Friday evening in downtown Lake Charles, surrounded by live music from top local bands as the sun sets. Better yet, enjoy four consecutive weeks of free outdoor concerts.
Downtown at Sundown is a beloved event blending vibrant nightlife, diverse cuisine, local art, and family-friendly entertainment. Picture a lively street fair atmosphere: stroll from art vendors to food trucks, then settle in for an exceptional live performance. The open "dance floor" adds to the fun for those in the mood to move.
This year's lineup is exceptional. The series kicks off on May 19 with The Kadillacs, followed by Boomerang on May 26, Whiskey South on June 2, and wraps up on June 9 with Geno Delafose.
While the music shines, the food scene steals the spotlight for many. Downtown restaurants, food trucks, and vendors offer a tantalizing array: seafood and boudin tacos, juicy hamburgers with onion rings, smoked BBQ ribs, Chinese fried rice, and noodles. Sweet treats like snocones and popsicles provide the perfect cool-down as the evening heats up.
History enthusiasts take note: On May 26, just before the Boomerang concert, the City of Lake Charles Sesquicentennial Committee will unearth a time capsule buried on April 28, 1967, at 1911 Historic City Hall. This event is part of the city's year-long Sesquicentennial celebrations. See a full list here.
