Rolling Thunder provides whitewater rafting adventures only on dam-controlled rivers to guarantee consistent, predictable water flows every day of the rafting season. This also gives us the longest rafting season in the country – from early April through the end of October.

Our bunkhouses at the Nantahala provide an affordable lodging alternative for groups of various sizes who come to raft with us. Stay one night or stay for a full week. Nestled in the trees behind our rafting center, the bunkhouses offer a unique opportunity for our groups to "sleep cheap" with rates ranging from $10 to $12 per person per night.

If you are looking to make memories that last a lifetime and enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery in the country, let Rolling Thunder Rafting Company lead the way. River Thunder is open 7 days a week seasonally. Peak Season: May 23 - Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pre and Post Season: April 1 - May 22 and Sept. 8 - Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
