Location:
Schollsville Road, Winchester, KY
Mt. Folly Farms is a Kentucky Landmark spanning over 1,000 acres of rolling pasture. Since the 1820s, it has been owned and operated by the Freeman family. The property earned the 2018 Preservation Award from the Winchester Historic Preservation Commission and the Clark County‑Winchester Heritage Commission.
Founder Laura Freeman, known for antibiotic‑free beef through Laura’s Lean Beef, now offers regional specialties via Laura’s Mercantile—including hemp chocolates, tinctures, and heritage grains.
The log cabin features two bedrooms (a master and a bunk room with a fine double bed and twin), two full baths, a family room with a fold‑out couch, a kitchen, pantry, dining room, mudroom, and a three‑season porch overlooking Goat Hollow. Antique furnishings complement its historic character. Modern comforts include new electric heating and cooling, as well as solar panels that offset the cabin’s electricity usage.
Guests enjoy free use of the entire property. In dry weather, a golf cart can be rented to traverse the 3‑mile farm road—a pleasant walk or jog. Two mountain bikes are also available at no cost.
The cabin is available for rent Thursday through Sunday. Bookings can be made via our Airbnb listing.
