Swan Pond Cabin – Secluded Riverfront Retreat on the Cumberland River

Location:
179 Anglers Way
Jamestown, KY 42629
Nestled in a quiet, private setting, the Swan Pond Cabin offers stunning views of the Cumberland River. Just 4½ river miles downstream of Wolf Creek Dam, a private boat ramp gives you immediate access to the water. From the ramp, you can explore an expansive wade‑fishing shoreline that extends upstream past Blackfish Creek, which becomes especially productive during controlled low‑flow releases from the dam.
The Cumberland River ranks among the finest trout fisheries east of the Mississippi, teeming with rainbow, brown, and brook trout. When flows dip, this is the prime spot for wade fishing and leisurely walks along the riverbank. You can launch or retrieve a boat, canoe, or kayak from the ramp—our cabin even provides a canoe for guests who don’t bring one.
Within 15 minutes you’ll reach Wolf Creek Dam, the National Fish Hatchery, Hatchery Creek Stream, and the ramp that leads to Lake Cumberland. Hatchery Creek remains accessible for shore or wade fishing even when river flows are high. Lake Cumberland State Park is a 30‑minute drive, and Dale Hollow Lake is 45 minutes away.
The surrounding farm and evolving nature preserve are teeming with wildlife. Watch bald eagles in winter, as well as a diverse array of native and migratory birds, wild turkeys, deer, and other local species year‑round.
Inside, a spacious living area connects to a fully equipped kitchen featuring counter seating for six, a full‑size refrigerator with ice maker, and a washer‑dryer. The cabin boasts 1½ indoor bathrooms plus an outdoor enclosed shower. Two well‑lit bedrooms overlook the river: one with a queen bed and twin daybed, the other with a full bed and a full/twin bunk bed, comfortably accommodating 6–8 guests. A generous screened‑in porch provides seating and a family‑size dining table.
The porch‑front river vista features a fire pit with supplied wood, corn‑hole boards, a gas grill, and an ice cooler—ideal for winding down and swapping fishing tales.
Adjacent to the cabin and ramp is ample parking for vehicles and boat trailers. A nearby river‑side picnic area offers horseshoe pits, a picnic table, a charcoal grill, and a fire pit.
For those combining work and play, the cabin provides AT&T cellular‑based Wi‑Fi and a 42‑inch LED TV with DirectTV satellite, plus a Blu‑ray player stocked with DVDs and board games. High‑speed internet for gaming or streaming is not available in this remote setting, but kids over ten will still find plenty of entertainment and family activities.
Please note: the cabin is not wheelchair accessible due to gravel drive, paths, and steps leading to the porch, and it is not recommended for very young children. Smoking is prohibited—violations incur a fee. Parties and receptions are not permitted, and pets are not allowed.
