Activities
Boating & Fishing
Taylorsville Lake Marina offers gas pumps, a bait shop, and rental boats (pontoon, deck, and fishing). While swimming is only allowed at the dam, the lake itself provides ample fishing opportunities—bass, bluegill, and crappie. A wheelchair‑accessible fishing pier is available. A Kentucky fishing license is required; purchase one online at the KY Dept. of Fish and Wildlife Resources.
Cycling
The 24‑mile trail is maintained for mountain biking. A weather restriction program (post‑June 1, 2008) protects trail integrity; signage and a daily hotline (502‑477‑9028) keep visitors informed.
Birding
The park’s mature forests and lake areas attract a diverse bird population, including American Bald Eagles, mallards, Great Blue Herons, and seasonal warblers. The Van Buren Boat Ramp hosts two Bald Eagle nesting sites.
Horseback Riding
Equestrians can enjoy the Possum Ridge trail and the 24‑mile multi‑use network, equipped with pull‑through sites and water hookups.
Hiking & Orienteering
Explore the 24‑mile trail or challenge yourself on the 3.4 km permanent orienteering course with 13 control points in mixed forest.
Playgrounds & Family Fun
Two child‑friendly playgrounds keep the little ones entertained while adults relax by the lake.
Reserve Your Stay
