Polaroid of the Week: Laid-Back Market Vendor in Sukhothai, Thailand

Polaroid of the Week: Laid-Back Market Vendor in Sukhothai, ThailandSukhothai is renowned for its historic old city—the ancient ruins of the former Sukhothai Kingdom's capital. The modern town, about 10 miles east, mainly offers hotels but provides an authentic window into everyday Thai life. We wandered the morning and night markets, observed monks building new temples and repairing those damaged by last year's severe floods, chatted with vendors, and tried exotic fruits we'd never encountered before.

This was a truly relaxed scene—no shouting or hard haggling. From the look of this vendor, there's no need to fret; his goods will sell whether he gets up from that chair or not!

I wrapped up my NYC stay in style with a housesitting stint in a luxurious Chelsea apartment, mere steps from the High Line. Earlier summer visits were crowded, but proximity allo

I recently left Berlin for a quick trip home to visit loved ones and photograph a close friends wedding. Erfurt, my hometown, often feels distant after years away—a classic case of outgrowing ones roots. I rarely return unless family or friends draw me back, keeping visits brief. This time was different. Visiting in summer with a first-time guest refreshed my perspective on this understated gem. I wandered cobblestone streets lined with meticulously restored half-timbered houses, admired the impo
