Discover Todos Santos: The Magical Town of Baja California Sur

Pack your bags and travel to the Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town), Todos Santos, located in the municipality of La Paz in Baja California Sur. Its underground seeps descend from the Sierra La Laguna and give rise to this oasis in the middle of the desert peninsula.

 

This small town is characterized by its colonial architecture. The meeting of cultures will captivate you by the intense artistic life that takes place in its galleries and festivals. When walking through its streets you will perceive a historical atmosphere due to the colonial architecture that can be seen in its houses and the cultural vocation that it houses.

 

One of the most popular attractions and one that attracts the attention of travelers is the legendary Hotel California, which, according to an urban legend, was the inspiration for the group Eagles to write their iconic song that bears the name of the hotel in 1976.

 

The Manuel Márquez de León Theater is another attraction that must be visited. Its history dates back to 1943 when it was built by the constituent general Francisco Mújica. The building is located on calle Legaspi, colonia Todos Santos, right in the historic centre.

 

In calle Benito Juárez, you will discover the Museo de Historia Regional (Regional History Museum), which is part of Centro Cultural Profr. Néstor Agúndez Martínez (Professor Néstor Agúndez Martínez Cultural Centre). It is a building built at the end of the 1920's. It is divided into five small rooms: old photography of the village and contemporary photography, the art gallery, the regional history museum and finally, the room containing a replica of a ranch house with its wooden walls.

 

The closest city to Todos Santos is La Paz, which is only an hour away. If you are looking for the best time to visit this Magical Town, do it from December to April, which is the best season for whale watching in the Pacific Ocean.
