Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico: Caribbean's Premier Art Museum in San Juan

San Juan is home to one of the Caribbean's largest and most acclaimed art museums, the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico (MAPR). Set in a magnificent neoclassical building—once the city's Municipal Hospital—this cultural gem features 18 exhibition halls across 130,000 square feet. Its collection spans paintings, sculptures, posters, and carvings from the 17th century to the present, spotlighting renowned Puerto Rican artists like José Campeche, Francisco Oller, Nick Quijano, and Nayda Collazo-Llorens.
MAPR also offers an interactive space for children, a 2.5-acre sculpture garden, a conservation laboratory, a theater, and a well-stocked gift shop. Regular creative workshops engage young visitors.
Don't miss the enchanting gardens, with winding paths guiding you past 16 sculptures and over 100,000 plants in a tranquil setting reminiscent of Monet’s water lilies.
