Charter Street Cemetery (Old Burying Point) – Salem’s Historic Resting Place

About

Founded in 1637, Charter Street Cemetery—also known as Old Burying Point—is Salem's oldest cemetery and the final resting place of several prominent early settlers. Situated just behind the historic Witch Trials Memorial, the cemetery offers visitors a quiet, reflective space that opens daily from sunrise to sunset. We respectfully ask that visitors honor the graves, mindful of their age and the solemn legacy they represent.
