I Want That Flight: Australia's Top Tool for Unbeating Cheap Airfares
Following my popular guide on How to Find Cheap Flights, I'm sharing another proven flight hack: an Australian flight comparison site I've added to my essentials. It's ideal for trips to or within Australia, leveraging the strong Australian dollar (AUD) against weaker currencies like the USD or EUR.
I Want That Flight!
With the EUR weakened against the USD, traditional exchange strategies have lost edge. Enter I Want That Flight (IWTF), an Aussie-based search engine that uncovers the lowest fares domestically and internationally.
I tested IWTF with real routes and dates from my travel plans, comparing against Kayak, Skyscanner, and Priceline. While not always the lowest base price, the AUD-USD exchange often made IWTF the winner. (Pro tip: Toggle currencies directly on the site, including USD.)
Example 1: Bangkok to Melbourne Round-Trip (Dec 7, 2015–Jan 11, 2016)
All prices converted to USD for fairness. IWTF led with the cheapest options, edging Skyscanner. But the standout? A pop-up affiliate link to Expedia via IWTF revealed a Bangkok-Melbourne round-trip for AUD 535.84 (USD 423.12)—over $200 less than U.S. sites!

Example 2: New York to London One-Way (Jul 27, 2015)
IWTF surfaced a Ukraine International flight missed by others—nearly $100 cheaper than rivals' top picks. Its second-cheapest (Norwegian Air) also beat competitors.

For domestic: Melbourne to Sydney one-way (Jun 17, 2015).
IWTF dominated, including budget carriers ignored by Priceline.
Conclusion
Booking via stronger-currency sites like IWTF can yield big savings. Bookmark it alongside your favorites and always compare before buying.
Bonus Flight Hacks
Try booking in foreign currencies—Johnny Africa saved $150 on Norwegian Air flights this way (a reliable low-cost carrier I've used transatlantic).
