Uruguay Travel Costs: Real Budget Breakdown from Our Trip

Traveling in Uruguay costs more than many expect, often comparable to the U.S. or Europe for similar quality in hotels and dining.

Like neighboring Argentina, Chile, and Brazil, Uruguay isn't a budget destination. However, contrary to warnings of prices 20%+ higher than Argentina, we found tourist areas (outside glitzy Punta del Este) similarly priced during our visit.

For short-term vacations, budget like the U.S. or Europe. Long-term travelers: Plan US$45+ per person daily (sharing costs).
