Visitors and newcomers will find the Monticello Trailhead & Visitors Center a comprehensive resource for Jasper County’s past and present. The building, originally a general and hardware store built circa 1887, now serves multiple functions, including being the trailhead for the Monticello Scenic Byway. This byway follows Georgia Highways 11 and 83 north, starting at the historic Downtown Square.

The center offers detailed information on the scenic byway, its unique attractions, and a bicycle path that follows the byway and nearby secondary roads. Visitors can also learn about the numerous county cemeteries, their notable interments, and surrounding communities. The exhibit showcases what to do and see within Jasper County, as well as insights into the cities of Monticello and Shady Dale.

Historical displays highlight the region’s heritage, while a special section honors notable natives such as country star Trisha Yearwood. A gift shop provides locally produced items and books chronicling Jasper County’s history.
