Our relaxing weekend in San Antonio unfolded perfectly. We indulged in exceptional cuisine, took leisurely strolls along the iconic River Walk, and I even experienced my first Volcanic Stone Massage.

Don't let the name fool you—The Liberty Bar delivers outstanding breakfasts crafted by skilled chefs. We savored a refreshing pre-afternoon Bloody Mary (is there any other kind?).

Bloody Mary and Mimosa specials are available until 1:45 PM on Saturdays, allowing for a relaxed morning before a hotel nap and city exploration.

The unassuming exterior, complete with a charming pink facade and 'Sunday Brunch' sign, feels more like a cozy home than a typical restaurant—refreshingly unique.

We returned for breakfast two days in a row. Standouts included the Huevos Revueltos Mexicanos—scrambled eggs with green onion, tomato, and serrano chile—and a mouthwatering Fried Egg Sandwich. My favorite, the Huevos Rancheros, exceeded expectations; I ordered it twice.

The Original Mexican Restaurant & Bar

We aimed for the bustling Casa Rio on the River Walk but faced a long wait. Instead, The Original Mexican Restaurant & Bar seated us immediately at a cozy table for two.

The Enchiladas Suizas, filled with tender pulled chicken and melted cheese in a cilantro cream sauce, were divine.

We also enjoyed a massive quesadilla topped with chicken, sour cream, and guacamole, plus what may be the best flan we've ever tasted.

La Gloria Ice House

Using a complimentary gift certificate from our trip, we dined at La Gloria Ice House, specializing in authentic Mexican street food. It stood out from typical spots with dishes like a crispy shredded beef chalupa (tostada) and fresh ceviche.

Exceptional service included our server's tip for a scenic 45-minute River Walk stroll back to our hotel—saving us $25 on a cab ride.

Achiote River Cafe

Conveniently next to our hotel, Achiote River Cafe offered drinks and appetizers. The Duck Tacos were unforgettable—we devoured them before snapping a photo.
