15 Stunning Photos Revealing Why Alberta is Heaven on Earth

Alberta has long topped our travel bucket list, and in early September, we finally explored this gem of Canada. Nestled between British Columbia and Saskatchewan, it's home to Banff and Jasper National Parks—two of Canada's most breathtaking natural wonders.
Having visited Jasper in winter earlier this year, we returned to discover the iconic Lake Louise and Moraine Lake in Banff, plus warm-weather hiking in Jasper. September proved ideal: we dodged summer crowds and caught vibrant fall foliage.
Top Stays in Banff National Park
For prime access to Banff's highlights, stay three nights at Paradise Lodge & Bungalows in Lake Louise, and two nights at Banff Caribou Lodge & Spa or Fox Hotel & Suites in downtown Banff.
Recommended Lodging in Jasper National Park
Tailored to your budget and style, choose Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge or Pine Bungalows—both conveniently near Jasper townsite.
Must-See Highlights & Travel Tips
Fly into Calgary, the gateway to Banff (1.5-hour drive to downtown). Key sights: Banff Gondola, Banff Hot Springs, Lake Minnewanka, Lake Louise, and Moraine Lake.
The scenic drive from Lake Louise to Jasper takes about 4 hours—allow extra time for stops. Near Jasper: Maligne Canyon, Athabasca Falls, Sunwapta Falls, and Maligne Lake (home to Spirit Island).
Return to Calgary (6 hours) or head to Edmonton Airport (4 hours from Jasper). We recommend the Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel, connected by covered walkway—perfect for early flights.
