FALLING SPRING FALLS

SEE IT
Boasting Virginia's tallest single-drop waterfall at 80 feet, Falling Spring Falls is located in Allegheny County, just 5 miles north of Covington and a convenient 26 miles from Douthat State Park.

One of the most accessible waterfalls in the state, it requires no strenuous hike—just park and stroll 100 feet to the overlook. Important: Trespassing beyond the overlook is strictly prohibited and enforced.
EXPERIENCE IT
The roar of the cascading water defies photos; you must visit to feel its power. The drive along winding mountain roads adds thrill, especially on a motorcycle or sports car.
Photo opportunities abound year-round from the overlook, with distant mountain views transforming through the seasons.

PICNIC
In 2004, MeadWestvaco donated the falls and 19 surrounding acres to the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. Douthat State Park staff and volunteers have enhanced the site with picnic tables, secure fencing, signage, and parking.
