2019 Virginia State Parks Adventure Series: Bike, Run, Paddle, Swim & Repeat for Epic Wins

Virginia State Parks and Appalachian Power are thrilled to announce the 2019 Adventure Series, an exhilarating lineup of races designed for competitors of all skill levels.

This diverse series features a mix of events in Virginia State Parks, offering opportunities to win cash prizes, Virginia State Parks annual passes, and gift certificates.

Entering its third year, we've incorporated participant feedback with new races, an updated scoring system, and more ways to succeed.

  • Smith Mountain Lake Triathlon – May 4, 2019

2019 Virginia State Parks Adventure Series: Bike, Run, Paddle, Swim & Repeat for Epic Wins– Smith Mountain Lake Triathlon, Virginia State Parks –

Events span cyclocross, running, mountain biking, adventure races, and sprint triathlons like the Appalachian Power Smith Mountain Lake Triathlon.

The revamped points system factors in race difficulty and finishing position. Full details are available on the website and in the rules and scoring system (PDF).

Aiming for victory? You'll need to outpace champions like Ed Ross-Clunis (2017 runner-up and 2018 winner) and Carrie Parker (gold medalist both years).

We've expanded "Achievement Awards" categories for more winners, including annual passes and gift certificates—from top points earners to those completing four races.

New in 2019: The "Five for Fun" category rewards completing any five races with an annual pass and entry into a $150 gift certificate drawing.
