The Centre Furnace Mansion: A Historic Treasure in Centre County
The Centre Furnace Mansion is a meticulously restored 19th-century ironmaster's home, fully furnished and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Together with the adjoining Furnace Stack, it stands as a powerful testament to two pivotal chapters in Centre County history: the 18th-century roots of the iron industry and the 19th-century founding of The Pennsylvania State University. Spanning several acres of beautifully landscaped grounds with historic trees and heirloom gardens, it's an ideal venue for weddings, gatherings, and meetings.
As the headquarters of the Centre County Historical Society, the mansion hosts permanent and rotating exhibitions, a library, and archives. Enjoy year-round programming, including guided tours and signature events like the December Stocking Stuffer Holiday Market and the May Plant Celebration garden sale.
