Sensory-Friendly Family Fun Weekend on the Grand Strand: November 15-17, 2019
The weekend of Friday, November 15, through Sunday, November 17, 2019, promises excitement along the Grand Strand. The Champion Autism Network (CAN) has planned a Sensory-Friendly Family Fun Weekend for families everywhere. Out-of-town visitors can enjoy discounted rates from Bluegreen Vacations starting at $69/night, with sensory-friendly activities throughout. Here's the schedule:
Friday, November 15: Join CAN families for a pool party at Harbour Lights—play, splash, eat, and connect.
Saturday, November 16, 8-11 a.m.: Sensory-friendly gaming at Dave & Buster's.
Saturday, November 16, 9-11 a.m.: Sensory-friendly visit at Ripley's Aquarium.
Saturday, November 16, 1-3 p.m.: Sensory-friendly Christmas on Ice Show.
Saturday, November 16, 7-8 p.m.: S'mores gathering with CAN families at Harbour Lights.
Sunday, November 17, 9-11 a.m.: Sensory-friendly shopping at Tanger Outlets with holiday sales and kids' activities.
The Champion Autism Network's mission is to foster supportive, judgment-free environments for autism-affected families. In January 2016, Surfside Beach became the first autism-friendly travel destination via a town resolution. Myrtle Beach and Horry County followed in late 2018. As the famed 'family beach,' Surfside Beach is the ideal home for this inclusive organization.
