Discover Ripley's Legendary Fertility Statues in Myrtle Beach – Free to Touch for Fertility Luck
Experience the legendary fertility statues at Ripley's Believe It or Not! in Myrtle Beach, credited with helping thousands of couples conceive. These powerful ebony wood carvings are now on free display in the lobby for guests to touch.
While admission is required for the Odditorium and other attractions, the statues are accessible without charge, allowing anyone to interact with this unique exhibit.
Ripley's acquired these hand-carved masterpieces from the Baule tribesmen of Côte d'Ivoire in the 1930s. Standing five feet tall and weighing over 70 pounds each, they embody centuries-old tribal traditions.
The Legend
Tribal lore holds that placing the statues on either side of the bedroom doorway ensures fertility. Touching them upon entering is said to bring conception soon after. Though Ripley's can't loan them out, their reputed power endures – thousands of visitors have shared success stories after a simple touch.
The Baby Boom
Since acquiring the statues in 1993 and displaying them at headquarters, Ripley's saw an immediate surge: six employees conceived shortly after touching them. Word spread, drawing visitors solely for the statues. Over the years, countless testimonials have poured in:
Victoria: I visited the statues in London in November, and I'm now pregnant!
Melissa: After failed fertility treatments, I touched them in London on vacation. My next treatment succeeded, and we welcomed a baby girl in March!
Lauren: After a long struggle, I rubbed both statues at Ripley's Odditorium – we found out we were pregnant within 48 hours.
Samantha: Doctors said it was impossible after two years, but we tried the statues anyway. Our daughter arrived, and I'd do it again.
