Artist Residency Chattanooga Launches with First Resident Artist Ryder Richards
Artist Residency Chattanooga (ARC) Debuts This October with Ryder Richards
Acclaimed independent artist and former Art Department Chair Ryder Richards has arrived in Chattanooga for a month-long residency. He will create a new body of work for his upcoming exhibition, “Lookout,” opening in early November.
Chattanooga's innovative arts nonprofit, ARC: Artist Residency Chattanooga, bridges global artists with the local community to advance professional practices, enrich arts education, and diversify the cultural landscape. Operating quarterly, ARC hosts residencies featuring studio visits, workshops, and lectures. Residents like Ryder, with extensive experience, share insights into their creative processes, career journeys, and provide critiques for emerging local artists.
The Texas-based artist holds a BFA in Painting and Drawing from Texas Tech University and an MFA in Painting from Texas Christian University. His work has been showcased internationally, including at Olm Space in Switzerland, Antena in Chicago, the Texas and Dallas Biennials, and the Dallas Museum of Art.
