Crepe Bar in Tempe: Authentic Parisian Crepes and Savory Delights
Having spent a summer immersed in Paris, mastering French, exploring iconic sights, and indulging in café crepes, I know a truly exceptional crepe when I taste one. For that authentic Parisian experience in Arizona, I head to Crepe Bar in Tempe, at the northwest corner of Rural Road and Elliot Road. This charming neighborhood spot, serving breakfast and lunch, is a hidden gem.
The menu boasts a diverse selection of savory and sweet crepes, plus a few alternatives for non-crepe enthusiasts. Options range from pork belly and basil chicken to chorizo and vegetarian fillings to suit every palate. I savored the veggie crepe, generously filled with eggplant, sweet potato, and zucchini. The delicate crepe wrapper was delectable on its own, topped with melted cheese for extra indulgence. Using seasonally available, locally sourced ingredients ensures peak freshness and flavor. My companions enjoyed the buckwheat chorizo crepe, basil chicken crepe, and a grilled cheese on toasted baguette—all praised for their rich tastes, with plates nearly cleaned.
Content with our savory selections, we shared one sweet crepe: the recommended lemon drop. It was perfection—light, delicate, with tangy lemon curd, hibiscus gel, and lemon crystals. A few bites each provided the ideal finish. I'm eager to return for more sweets, my personal favorite.
Crepe Bar's rising popularity among crepe aficionados means expansion is underway. Exciting times ahead!
