Orlando Now the Premier Hub of American Tennis
With the arrival of the USTA National Campus, Orlando is now the premier hub of American tennis.
Orlando delivers the ultimate tennis experience with the opening of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus.
"This is nirvana, with nets," said USTA President Katrina Adams, joined by tennis legends Chris Evert, James Blake and Jim Courier. The new 100‑court facility will host more than 100 international, national and local events in 2017, and it remains open to the public for recreational play.
All About the Courts
With over 100 courts, players enjoy a wide variety of options. Six European Terre Dumas red‑clay courts were built using more than 450 tons of imported Italian red clay. The Nemours Family Zone caters to young players and adults learning the game, featuring eight 36‑foot and eight 60‑foot courts. Reservations for courts and local programs can be made at USTANationalCampus.com.
USTA Events
The campus will host roughly 100 local, regional, national and international events in its first year. It is open Monday‑Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Collegiate Area, the new home of UCF’s varsity tennis programs, features high‑mast lighting for televised events and seating for 1,200 fans. More than 300 college dual matches will take place on campus, highlighted by a “College Match Day” series.
Tennis of the Future
Partnering with PlaySight Technologies, the creator of the Smart Court, the USTA has equipped 32 courts with interactive technology that delivers real‑time data such as ball speed, step count, misses, lobs and aces. An additional 84 tournament courts offer live streaming. "It will be the center of tennis innovations, from live streaming to match analysis, which is really state‑of‑the‑art," said Chris Evert. "In a nutshell, this USTA National Campus leaves no stone unturned. The attention to detail has been tremendous, and it will elevate our sport at every level."
