Ride in Style: Dallas' Premier Mecum Classic Car Auction, Nov 2‑5
Dallas hosts one of the largest classic car auctions in the United States. From November 2‑5, Mecum’s Dallas event brings together more than 1,000 American muscle cars, Corvettes, hot rods, and restored classics—all under one roof in a climate‑controlled convention center.
What sets Dallas apart?
Unlike many regional events, Dallas’s venue accommodates all vehicles indoors, protecting bidders from weather disruptions and allowing a continuous, high‑energy auction experience.
Setup and inspection process
Each car undergoes a thorough inspection upon arrival—typically between 10 minutes and an hour depending on its condition. After inspection, the fuel is siphoned, leaving only a minimal reserve, and the vehicle is staged on the floor. Four seasoned auctioneers rotate every 30 minutes to keep voices clear, with Mark Delzell leading the session. Delzell has attended 29 consecutive Mecum auctions, missing only one in his career.
What you’ll see
The Dallas 2016 catalog lists roughly 1,000 vehicles sourced from 30 states, spanning muscle cars, classic models, hot rods, and Resto Mods. In addition to the cars, each day the venue showcases 50–100 pieces of road art—including neon gas‑station signs, vintage traffic lights, kiddie cars, and even a Cadillac‑branded couch—offering bidders unique, collectible finds.
