Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center Marks 30 Years of Musical Excellence
Opened in 1989, the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center has become a cornerstone of Dallas’ cultural life. Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, the venue is offering a month‑long slate of concerts, tours, and world‑premiere performances that showcase its world‑class acoustics and architectural beauty.

“The Meyerson is one of the finest music halls in the world,” said Debi Pena, Vice President of People and Facilities at the Meyerson. “When it was built, no one, not even the architects and designers, imagined that the acoustics would be as magnificent as they are. They’re unmatched in the world. And we want to share it with the people of Dallas. It’s a great opportunity to come in and explore the hall and experience music like never before.”
To celebrate the anniversary of this iconic performance hall designed by master architect I.M. Pei, the Meyerson is hosting a series of events through the month of September:
Sept. 4, 7:30 p.m.
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) will present the world premiere of Inner City Rhapsody, a new orchestral piece by Dallas composer Quinn Mason and commissioned by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Tickets are just $10.
Sept. 12, 7:30 p.m.
Launching their 2019/20 season, the DSO will perform Strauss’ Alpine Symphony. Featuring over 100 musicians and instruments, including the Lay Family Concert Organ and off‑stage brass, the piece represents a day of climbing in the Bavarian Alps, complete with meteorological sound effects. Tickets start at $39.
Sept. 14, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The Meyerson will host a free open house for the public. The lobby will be filled with an interactive drum circle and crafts while musical ensembles such as the Dallas Winds, Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas and Booker T. Washington High School Mariachi Pegaso will take the stage for short concerts.
Sept. 20, 8 p.m.
For something with a little more beat, check out the performance by Texas‑based world percussion group D’Drum. With more than 100 percussion instruments from around the world, the group will perform a full concert program. Tickets start at $20.
Sept. 22, 2:30 p.m.
Reprising their Celebration of Singing, the Dallas Symphony Chorus will take the stage to present the world premiere of a new choral piece by Ryan Murphy. Tickets are just $10.
