Palm Springs International ShortFest: 25th Edition Returns June 18-24, 2019

In addition to its stunning natural beauty and luxurious landscapes, Greater Palm Springs is a hub for Hollywood movie magic. The renowned Palm Springs International Film Festival lights up every January with global films, and to bring cinematic excitement to summer, the 25th annual ShortFest runs June 18-24, 2019.

ShortFest showcases about 369 short films from over 100 countries across seven days. More than 100 have earned Academy Award nominations historically, offering a prime chance to spot future Oscar contenders. Whether you're a first-timer or returning fan, here's your essential guide.

Tickets, Please

Palm Springs International ShortFest: 25th Edition Returns June 18-24, 2019ShortFest tickets are now available to the public and Film Society Members. Screenings are organized into themed programs of 4-9 shorts with shared styles and themes, followed by Q&A with directors and crew.

Buy tickets online at psfilmfest.org or at the Palm Springs Cultural Center Box Office. Individual screenings and panels cost $13; Opening Night is $60, Closing Night $50. Discounted 6-pack vouchers and passes are $69, on sale since April 1.

No advance tickets? Standby seats release 10 minutes before showtime. Lines start one hour early, first-come, first-served. Need to step out? Take your stub or pass for a RE-ADMIT pass—no re-entry without it.

Let the Show Begin

From 369 films, expect 60 world premieres, 25 international, and 17 U.S. premieres across 60 curated programs in documentary, animation, and live-action. Stars like Paul Lieberstein, Mandy Moore, and Justin Bartha in The Big Break; Gillian Jacobs and Danny Pudi in Curated; Maria Bello in EXIT; Amy Landecker in Father Figurine; Jamie McShane in Good Morning; Tyler Labine in It’s Your Call; Brittany Snow directing Milkshake with Anna Camp; Patton Oswalt, Ben Schwartz, and Dermot Mulroney in Monster Challenge; Chris Gethard in Nighty Night; Tom Skerritt in The Phantom 52; M. Emmet Walsh in South of Bix; and Brian Cox in Widdershins.

$86,000 in prizes, including $26,750 cash across 22 categories. Top five winners qualify for Academy Award consideration. Announced at June 23 brunch.

Best Seat in the House

Beyond screenings, ShortFest features a three-day forum (June 20-22) at the Riviera Hotel’s Royal Ballrooms with panels like “How to Pitch Like a Pro,” “Best Foot Forward: Labs & Grants,” and “How to Ruin a Film in 10 Ways.” Over 75 pros share insights for filmmakers and enthusiasts.

All-Access and Market passes cover all forums; others limited to panels. Individual tickets available online. Students get $75 passes (with ID) for screenings, forums, and Film Market.
