The American Express: PGA TOUR Returns to Greater Palm Springs in 2020
The longstanding PGA TOUR event in the desert returns to La Quinta in 2020 with tremendous momentum.
In September 2019, the tournament unveiled a major rebrand as The American Express, securing a multi-year title sponsorship from the global credit card leader. Closing out the year, World Golf Hall of Famer, San Diego native, and two-time champion Phil Mickelson elevated his role from ambassador to official host of the event.
Scheduled for January 15-19, 2020, the tournament and its pro-am will span the tri-course rotation of the Stadium and Nicklaus Tournament Courses at PGA WEST, plus historic La Quinta Country Club.
Philanthropy remains central to the event, which has raised over $60 million for local causes since 1960. The growing prestige in 2020 promises even greater impact.

Venue Vibe
At PGA WEST, prime viewing spots abound along the iconic finishing stretch of the Pete Dye-designed Stadium Course.
Adjacent to the 16th green and 17th tee, the returning "Michelob Ultra Beers Fore Birdie" venue welcomes all ticket holders. Golf fans: score a birdie on either hole for half-priced beers for the next 15 minutes.
Behind the legendary "Alcatraz" island green on the 17th, the Casamigos Club returns for all ticket holders, offering premium views of one of golf's most famous par-3s.
On the Stadium Course's 18th, the expansive 13,000-square-foot Albertsons VONS Pavilions 18 (open to all ticket holders) delivers an indoor/outdoor experience with drinks, dining, live tournament action, and TVs for NFL playoffs coverage. Active duty, reserves, retirees, first responders, and veterans enjoy complimentary food and refreshments at the Military Outpost behind the 18th green.
New for 2020, the "Corona Premier Par Tee Lounge" on the 1st tee/9th green enhances your day with premium golf views, scenery, snacks, and drinks.
Tee Up and Tune In

Since Lagardere Sports assumed management in 2017, the weekend concert series on the PGA WEST driving range has become a highlight.
Kicking off about 30 minutes after play ends (around 5 p.m.) on Friday, January 17, and Saturday, January 18, these free concerts are included with general admission tickets.
Matching the excitement of the Amex sponsorship reveal, the 2020 lineup features Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Stevie Nicks on Friday and country star Luke Bryan on Saturday.
"Long" Shots and Fan Favorites

In 2019, Adam Long shocked the golf world with a dramatic 14-foot birdie on the final hole for his first TOUR win in just his sixth start, edging Phil Mickelson and Adam Hadwin by one shot.
The defending champion returns in 2020, aiming to join Johnny Miller as the event's only back-to-back winner (1975-76).
Joined by Mickelson, early commitments include Tony Finau, Paul Casey, Matthew Wolff, Open Champion Francesco Molinari, and local favorite Rickie Fowler, who returns after skipping since 2014.
