What Does Love Local Mean to You?

"It means supporting the people and businesses that bring life and energy to this community, respecting the nature that embodies us, and sharing the secrets and magic of Greater Palm Springs with friends, family, and newcomers."

Power Yoga Palm Springs (PYPS) owner Kim Funkey embodies community spirit. Born and raised in Palm Springs, she acquired PYPS in 2018 after a decade managing her family's local restaurant and bar businesses. "Over those 10 years, yoga was my escape from the hectic service industry, bringing immense joy and peace to my life," she shares.

When the chance to buy the studio where her yoga journey began arose, Funkey seized it. "I can't imagine a better place to own a yoga business. Palm Springs is my home; the desert's beauty has shaped who I am," she says.

Funkey and her diverse team of instructors welcome everyone with genuine warmth in a serene, spotless space. They offer varied classes, including regular outdoor sessions amid the desert landscape.

"I feel honored and excited when someone joins a class," Funkey notes. "Seeing names on our list warms my heart. I care deeply about every visitor, guiding their practice while they prioritize self-care, fostering peace and healing for themselves and our community. The more people who practice yoga, the more light and love we spread!"

Funkey's dedication extends further: She's on the Executive Board of Main Street Palm Springs, president of Variety – The Children's Charity of the Desert (supporting at-risk children and families in the Coachella Valley), and teaches yoga for United Cerebral Palsy's after-school program in the Inland Empire.

"Yoga has transformed my life positively, and I'm privileged to share its wonders with our desert community and visitors. I've poured my heart into creating a welcoming space for all levels, helping everyone feel the magic of this desert oasis."
