In my mind, bagels equal happiness. So I'm delighted to read that they're going global. The New York Times T Magazine just published a solid list of international bagel makers spreading, or should I say schmearing, the love. – Daniel, editorial assistant
Swiss filmmaker Milo Zanecchia took a 90-day road trip from Switzerland to Mongolia. Watch his fantastic time-lapse video or read about the whole trip on his blog. – Becky, assistant editor
Some distressing news: Brit supermarket chain Tesco will be straightening out their croissants, quite possibly creating an existential crisis for the iconic pastries (the word does translate to "crescent"). If only Umberto Eco were around to parse the issue. – Jeralyn, editorial director

Heston Blumenthal, that Michelin-starred English chef prankster, will open four hidden pop-up restaurants for one night only this month in Melbourne. The meals will be free, but getting a coveted seat involves figuring out a social media puzzle and writing a 25-word appeal. – Pavia
Someone gave me a Mega Millions lottery ticket last week. I didn't win the $114 million, but if I did, I would've bought Glin Castle in County Limerick. The ancestral home of the last knight of Glin and all 380 acres of his property went on the market a few months ago for just over $7.3 million. – Becky
